Legendary weapons are one of the best weapons in the game. These are those purple colored weapons that can be acquired as rewards or loot through missions and PvP matches.
Being Legendary means that they are the second best rarity of weapons in the game. Exotic weapons being the most rare of them all.
The most obvious and usual option for gaining Legendary items is to grind for them from enemies. However grinding may take hours before you even find yourself face to face with the weapon you need.
One of the best ways to receive Legendary items is from doing quests. In Destiny 1 Guardians could do Namely the Dark Below and House of Wolves DLC quests. These quests will reward you with a Murmur Fusion Rifle and the Vestian Dynasty Special Weapon. During the Destiny 2 Beta, Players could grind for gear in by completing PvP Crucible matches or by repeatedly defeating the Inverted Spire. The Crucible matches are the fastest way to earn loot as opposed to the lengthy Inverted Spire.
In Destiny 1 players could complete the Vanguard Dragon Strike Playlists and you'll earn Vanguard marks and reputation. You can combine them and use these to purchase items from your Vanguard representative.
During our play test of the Destiny 2 beta we were unable to play any strike playlists since we only had access to the Inverted Spire. We suspect Destiny 2 will bring back this feature.
Destiny 1 players could also complete The Prison of Elders will reward you with Armor Cores and Weapon Cores which you can use to purchase from Varik, the Loyal's shop.

Simple and versatile. Auto Rifles tend to be the most used in PvP. Especially when we're talking about the Scathelocke. Its quick, has decent damage and good range while if you equip the High-Quality Rounds weapon perk, you could reduce the amount of return fire from your enemies.
Fusion Rifles are laser cannons or most gamers will be more familiar with the term Rail Gun. Fusion Rifles are Power weapons that charge up and unleash a cluster of tightly-packed shots. These shots have a small amount of spread to them but if all of them land on a target you could deal significant amounts of damage. Often times these weapons can one-shot in PvP but due to their charge times, you'd have time your shots properly and often risk wasting a shot or two. They're great fun in PvE but keep them away from the Crucible in the mean time.
The Acantha-D is the only grenade launcher we had access to in the Beta. It was sadly underwhelming too since usually grenade launchers are great tools for wiping out groups of enemies. The Acantha-D, albeit powerful, lacks in accuracy and area of effect. Given that Power weapons also have a large lack in ammo supply this weapon is less effective and less friendly towards players who simply want an easy, powerful nuke. Which is why most players would even pick this kind of weapon.
Hand cannons in Destiny have always been a staple in our loadout. During the Beta we often found ourselves comparing Better Devils with the Minuet-42 and often times we'd choose the Better Devils. The Minuet-42 offers a great alternative to Better Devils if you're looking some solar damage in your arsenal. You might lose the explosive payload perk from Better Devils but the Minuet-42 offers better accuracy and range on the first shot fired. Its a tough choice to make between the two but we're favoring the Minuet for its similarities to Reaper's(Overwatch) shotgun pistols.
Pulse Rifles are great for players looking for versatility. Long-range, mid-range and close quarters. These rifles won't disappoint you and particularly the Nergal PR4 will make yyou fall in love with Pulse Rifles. The Nergal's sleek design and interesting slushy liquid will make players admire the thought put into designing this beautiful weapon.
The only Rocket launcher we could find in the game could only be equipped on the Warlock class. A great choice for aerial strikes as you glide through. Its also one of the best weapons used in PvP during the Destiny 2 Beta.
Another personal favorite equip for the Warlock class. Scout Rifles pack a punch while keeping a safe distance with a bit of versatility. They can be used to scope and snipe out enemies or if needed, they can be used just as effectively in mid-range combat and precision kills grant players a short duration buff that triples the damage of Scout Rifles giving players that additional incentive to land those precision shots.
Sad to say, side arms are in a strange position in Destiny 2. Our experience with side arms felt underpowered and there's not much point in using them but for their energy damage.
The Retrofuturist is a shotgun and the only shotgun we got to play with in the Destiny 2 Beta. At point blank, this shotgun can one shot most enemies with exception to enemies with shields and additional armor. We were only able to equip this on the Titan class.
The Copperhead-4SN was the only Sniper Rifle during the Beta, which could only be equipped on the Hunter class. It only had seven shots in it and could one-shot most enemies with a head shot. If you landed a body shot with the Copperhead-4SN, not only would you be able to deal a massive amount of damage but you could also knockback an enemy hard enough for a ledge kill.
We understand that Destiny 2 is introducing the use of submachines guns and the Beta phase was a perfect means to test it out but much like the side arm, they don't feel as important to use compared to their rifle counter parts. Submachine guns are supposed to be best used for close combat. Dealing small amounts of damage per round but massive amounts of damage per clip due to their increased round per minute. With their wide spread, which means players will have to get in close range to make the most of it, submachine guns don't feel as significant as they should be in Destiny.
Bungie will need to tweak this one. Out of all the new weapons they've added, we had high expectations for the SMG. We certainly hope Bungie remedies this together with the Side Arm.
