An all new weapon type is coming to Destiny 2, the Trace Rifle. The first, and currently only Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 is the Coldheart exotic weapon.
The Coldheart, the first of its kind in Destiny 2, is an exotic weapon from Omolon Foundry, it is a new technology they’ve developed for the Guardians defending the city,” explained Jill Scharr, a writer at Bungie.
Unfortunately, the Coldheart won't be freezing its enemies frozen solid and will only bring precision and intense damage of time.
On July 27, 2017, Bungie announced The Exotic Trace Rifle, Coldheart. It fires a continuous ray of energy in a straight line causing ice, cold power. It was announced as a pre-order bonus right after the open beta concluded.

Bungie's announcement states that players who have pre-ordered Destiny 2 will be able to get the Coldheart, Bungie also stated that the Coldheart won't be a pre-order only item. Players may acquire the Trace Rifle through 'gameplay' starting December 5, 2017. However, it is still unclear at what point in the game players will be able to acquire the gun and by pre-ordering, players will have access to the ice, cold rifle from the very start.
While December 5 may be some random date, it would be a fitting time to allow players to wield an ice, cold weapon during the winter season and it might as well be a date for Destiny 2's very first DLC release. And besides, Winter is Coming.
