So you've done a few missions and owned nearly all of the Strike missions and now you need a challenge. The Crucible and all of its PvP modes will certainly do provide for that challenge.
A New Crucible
First and foremost, veteran players of the Destiny franchise need to know that The Crucible has gone through some new changes.
All games are now 4v4.
In all modes.
The HUD is more informational.
Displays where enemies get Power Ammo, who has their Super
ready and who is dead or alive.
Control begins with one of the control points already in possession.
And control points no longer need to be uncontrolled first.
You can take it straight from red to blue. No neutral capturing.
Being in possession of multiple capture points speed up point gain.
Teams can no longer speed up captures by having multiple players on the point.
Power ammo (previously heavy ammo) spawns near the enemy base.
Matches are faster paced.
The Best and Good Ol' PvP Tips
Shotguns and Scout Rifles
Shotguns and Scout Rifles have always been the best choice in competitive FPS. Its no different here in Destiny 2. Shotguns have high damage output at close range with a wide spread making it easy to one shot enemies close enough for the kill and less stress on aiming for the less skilled. Scout Rifles on the other require a bit more skill to optimize but in the right hands a player can rake up those kills.
Team Play is a Must
Its a 4v4 game for a reason, team play is encouraged and the objectives were meant to be optimized for a well coordinated strategy.
Keep Moving
The last thing you want is to stand around like a training dummy. Jump, crouch, feint and dodge to keep the enemy guessing.
Decide Wisely
Your Super is valuable and can be a game changer. Choose the best time to use your Super and avoid double downing when it isn't necessary but don't be too hesitant on when to use it. A perfect opportunity may have already come and gone so be vigilant when on the look out for the perfect moment.

Loot Grinding
The Crucible is the best way to loot for gear. You gain one as a reward at the end of every match and considering that games have been made faster paced, you'll end up gaining more compared to other game modes making it the most optimal means to gain loot as of the Beta.
