Destiny 2: Pre-Orders Sky Rocket

update 07/08/2017

Broader Horizons

As Bungie expands its horizons by bringing Destiny 2 to PC, Pre-Order sales have surpassed previous Destiny 1 Pre-Orders. Now that we're seeing Bungie and Activision Blizzard working together, Activision noted that the recent console beta attracted more players than Destiny 1's beta. Pre-orders for the Destiny sequel have also risen with the nearing of Destiny 2's release date, although no specific figures or further comparisons were offered.

The Importance Of DLC

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg also notes that Destiny 2 Pre-orders were particularly high especially for the more expensive bundles. Destiny 1 was a game basically built on DLC and Hirschberg emphasizes that one of Destiny 1's major flaws was the lack of adding content in accordance to its demand; ending with: Destiny 2's expansion content is incredibly important.

"Finally, and maybe most importantly with a game like this. Destiny is so engaging that the follow-on content is almost as important if not as important as the main game."

-Eric Hirshberg, Activision Publishing CEO

Destiny 2 launches on September 6, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before coming to PC on October 24, 2017. The PC beta happens this August 28-31. Minimum and recommended specs for the beta can be found here and details on restrictions to third-party applications can be found here.
