During the Gameplay reveal, they showed us 4 new worlds that we can play on. Io, Titan, N'essus and Earth's European Deadzone. More importantly, all four new planets are all heavily tied into the Destiny lore. Another sign that Destiny 2 will have more story driven missions for Destiny fans. More information about these planets will be available upon release of the Destiny 2 Open beta coming this summer.
Io
Io, also known as Jupiter's moon, is a sacred World to Guardians and especially to Warlocks, this is the last place that the Traveler has touched, filled with content and lore.
This is where Ikora Rey went off to search for answers after the loss of the Tower.
Titan
On Titan, you can find Commander Zavala. He is there mending his group of soldiers while the planet is at the hands of Ghaul. Titan is a methane ocean world, where there is hardly any land matter however we can see some Golden Age platforms on this ocean world.
N'essus
On N'essus, players will find Cayde-6. He is caught up in his own adventures on this planet that is mostly dominated by The Vex who have turned it into one of the machine planets.
N'essus will also be a 'visiting planet' due to it being on an orbital course as a planetoid. Players who wish to visit N'essus will have to watch its orbit closely.
Inverted Spire Strike
Pike, a mountable bike found in the Inverted Spire
The Inverted Spire Strike can also be found on Nessus where Guardians are asked to investigate the Cabal interference with the Vex and ultimately confront Protheon, the Modular Mind.
Players were able to explore The Inverted Spire Strike during the Destiny 2 beta test. If fully explored, beta testers would be able to find several clues pertaining to Destiny lore by simply roaming around the map and ignoring the main objectives.
The Crucible PvP Arena
Also found on Nesuss is the Crucible, Destiny 2's PvP zone. Players may test out their skill against other players in a 4v4 battle arena. As of the beta, The Crucible has two modes, Countdown and Control.
Countdown
Destiny 2's newest PvP mode, pits teams of 4 players with each other in a Counter-Strike-like match. Defending teams must prevent the charges from detonating and the Attacking team must activate and defend the charges from being diffused.
Control
Destiny's old Crucible map is back. Teams of 4 are pitted in a race of first to 75 points. The Teams will find themselves in an arena with 3 control zones and teams must capture and defend these control zones. The more control zones a team has the faster they can gain points.
Earth : European Dead-Zone
The European Deadzone on Earth has been mentioned a few times in the previous Destiny game and is the new home base for humanity. Players may find the Crucible maps Memento and Widow's Court here. However, since it is considered a new world for Destiny 2, we may be able to explore Earth even further than in the previous game. As mentioned during the gameplay reveal:
"“It’s an incredible place — the largest destination we’ve ever built, easily, by a factor of two”
The EDZ, which looks like a forest-like area, could be the largest area to explore in the game.
The Farm
Players will also find The Farm, Destiny 2's Social Space where players may group up, discuss Strike strategies, Crucible strategies or simply hang around with friends. It is located in the European Dead-Zone. During the Destiny 2 beta, players were able to enter The Farm for a limited time. During that time the Farm was jam packed with Guardians that the developers had to disable the ability to interact with chickens. Players were able to play a few rounds of soccer and explore the area. There were no NPCs available in The Farm however there were areas where we could infer what kind of NPCs will be available based on the design of the merchant stalls.
